Cécile NORMANDY VISITS

This project was born out of my commitment to the duty of remembrance. The destinies of all of us are closely intertwined with family histories that were in one way or another shaped by the Second World War. My university career, which focused on geopolitics and foreign languages, has accentuated this desire to better understand current issues in the light of past historical events. My varied professional experiences have sometimes brought me face to face with young audiences. I am firmly convinced that the younger generations need to learn about history, our history. In my opinion, this is essential if we are to move forward together on the road to peace, which can never be taken for granted. After being trained as a guide at the Caen Memorial, I decided to fly on my own. This freedom allows me to give my full attention to each group of visitors, adapting my visit to their personal stories. I’m sure I learn as much from my customers as they learn from me. This thirst for knowledge and this quest to share are the quintessence of this project.

About me

My name is Cécile.

I graduated with a Master’s degree in Conference Interpreting in 2021, fluent in English and German. My university studies have led me to delve into geopolitics and visit many historical sites.

Since 2023, I’ve been a qualified Tour Guide, specialising in the history of the Allied landings and the Battle of Normandy.

I’m keen to pass on my knowledge and contribute to the duty of remembrance. My rich professional experience has given me the privilege of travelling a lot.
Today, my job also gives me the chance to meet visitors from all over the world and to learn about the history of their families during the Second World War.

For me, it’s essential to anchor our history in the present, to share my knowledge with all generations and to keep alive the memory of these men and women who fought for freedom.
"Très bien. C'était très instructif et notre guide, Cécile, a adapté ses informations à nos intérêts. Nous avons également eu le temps de nous isoler lorsque c'était nécessaire. Nous avons tous apprécié la visite et nous la recommanderions à d'autres anglophones. Une journée très agréable." (Avis traduit Anglais / Français)
